<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with which a display having high luminance and high contrast is made available, and further which is excellent in easiness of its manufacturing. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is constructed in such a way that: liquid crystal layer thickness in a transmissive display region T and that in a reflective display region R are different from each other; an optical retardation layer 23 containing a polymer liquid crystal is formed between a counter substrate 25 and a TFT array substrate 10; and the polymer liquid crystal of the optical retardation layer 23 has orientation states in the transmissive display region T and in the reflective display region R different from each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
