<p>Decoding an encoded picture with a dependency relationship within a single picture, utilizing existing decoding circuits without causing a drop in parallel performance efficiency. An image decoding device (100), provided with a stream splitting unit (110) for splitting an encoded stream such that an encoded picture is split into two, and decoding processing units (120, 130) for decoding the two split encoded streams, each of the decoding processing units (120, 130) being provided with decoding units (123, 133) for decoding in a predetermined order and generating decoded data including pixel data and control data, transfer determining units (124, 134) for determining whether or not decoded data will be referenced by other processing units, data transferring units (125, 135) for transferring decoded data to and from other processing units, and decoding determining units (122, 132) for determining whether or not referenced decoded data has been obtained, the decoding units (123, 133) decoding a split encoded stream if decoded data has been obtained.</p> |
