METHOD FOR PRODUCING 1-PROPANOL

It is intended to provide a method for efficiently producing 1-propanol using a microorganism and a microorganism which can be used in the production. According to the invention, the followings are provided: a microorganism having an ability to biosynthesize 1-propanol from a saccharide through 1,2-propanediol; preferably a microorganism obtained by incorporating a gene encoding an enzyme involved in a pathway for biosynthesizing 1,2-propanediol from dihydroxyacetone phosphate into a host microorganism; more preferably a microorganism obtained by incorporating a gene involved in a pathway for biosynthesizing 1,3-propanediol from glycerol; and a method for producing 1-propanol comprising culturing any of these microorganisms in a culture medium, producing and accumulating 1-propanol in the culture, and collecting 1-propanol from the culture.
