The present invention relates to a novel use of a ßig-h3 fragment, more particularly a novel use of a ßig-h3 fragment prepared by removing Hl and H2 regions from the 4th fas-1 domain of ßig-h3 for the prevention and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The ßig-h3 fragment or a vector including a polynucleotide encoding the same inhibit inflammation at the rheumatoid arthritis site and, thus, can be used to prevent and treat rheumatoid arthritis and other various inflammatory diseases.
