A noise reduction system includes: a color signal separation/extraction unit which successively extracts a local region containing a target pixel for performing a noise reduction process, from a video signal; a first noise reduction unit which performs a random-type noise reduction process on the local region; a second noise reduction unit which performs an impulse-type noise reduction process on the local region; and a synthesis unit which synthesizes a video signal subjected to the noise reduction process by the first noise reduction unit and a video signal subjected to the noise reduction process by the second noise reduction unit.
