A method and system of quality management for a digital photograph includes using multi-zone autofocus information to generate an image file that has a high-quality portion and a low-quality portion. In one approach, captured image data is processed so that a portion of the image data corresponding to an area (46) different than a focus zone (38) is lower in quality than image data corresponding to an area (48) inside the focus zone.
