FREQUENCY CONVERTER AND TRANSMITTER USING THE SAME

There is provided a frequency converter for suppressing an unnecessary spurious component. The frequency converter includes first and second even harmonics mixers (71, 72), each having a local oscillation frequency (LO) terminal, an intermediate frequency (IF) terminal, and a radio frequency (RF) terminal, for outputting, as a desired wave, an RF signal or an IF signal with a mixed wave obtained by mixing an even-order component of an input LO wave and a first-order component of the IF signal or the RF signal; an IF in-phase synthesizer/distributer (4) for outputting input IF signals in phase to the respective mixers or synthesizing signals supplied from the mixers in phase to output the resultant signal; an LO 180-degree distributer (5) for outputting input LO waves 180 degrees out of phase to the respective mixers, and an RF in-phase synthesizer/distributer (6) for outputting input RF signals in phase to the mixers or synthesizing signals supplied from the mixers in phase to output the resultant signal. The frequency converter performs conversion such that the conversion in a transmitting system is the reverse of that in a receiving system.
