The invention relates to a fire-proof electric cable which can be operated during a fire and is formed by at least one conductor (2). Said cable comprises, around the conductors (2), an intumescent pasty compound (7) that fills all of the gaps between the conductors. Said compound (7) has a liquid base which starts to boil precisely in the range of temperatures in which the insulating covers (3) consisting of polimetric material of the conductors (2) are affected, the liquid base subsequently evaporating and the compound (7) expanding. Once the compound (7) has expanded, it covers the conductive threads (2.1) of the conductors (2), replacing the covers (3), preventing a short-circuit and maintaining the integrity of the circuit.
