<p>In a disc device wherein a disc-like information recording medium is turned and the information recording medium is accessed by a contact-type head which slides over in contact with the surface of the information recording medium, a thermal actuator is provided which changes the contact state between the head and the information recording medium by thermal expansion of the head which is supplied with heat from the thermal actuator. In the disc device, a sensor for detecting the frictional force between the head and the information recording medium and a heat supply controlling portion which controls the supply of heat to the thermal actuator based on the frictional force detected by the sensor to make the actuator control the contact state between the head and the information recording medium may be additionally provided.</p>
