摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate, and to provide an epoxy resin composition useful as a sealing material for LED (liquid crystal display) emitting short-wavelength light. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the method for producing the carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate having &ge;80% light transmittance when the carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate is dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone so that the concentration of the carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate is 80 mass% and measurement is made with a spectrophotometer at 400 nm wavelength using a quartz cell having 1 cm optical path length. The method for producing the carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate is characterized by reacting a monocarboxylic acid in an amount of 0.1-0.6 mol based on 1 mol of the triglycidyl isocyanurate in an organic solvent in the presence of a quaternary phosphonium salt. The epoxy resin composition comprises an epoxy resin component comprising >90 mass% of the carboxylic acid-modified triglycidyl isocyanurate and a curing agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
