<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation film having superior optical characteristics, such as a large refractive index in the film thickness direction, a large in-plane phase difference, and small wavelength dependence, in particular, an optical compensation film for a liquid crystal display element. <P>SOLUTION: The film made of a β-substituted acrylate resin satisfies the relation nz>ny≥nx, wherein the three-dimensional refractive index of the film in the film in-plane lead axis direction is nx; the refractive index in the film in-plane direction orthogonal thereto is ny (when nx and ny are equal, it is an arbitrary orthogonal biaxial refractive index); and the refractive index in the perpendicular direction outside the film is nz. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
