PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus and image file providing system capable of specifying a position of a subject. SOLUTION: A subject image is formed on a photo-detection plane of a CCD 14, and a focal position of the subject image is adjusted. When acquiring image information indicative of the subject image via the CCD 14, position information indicating a position of the photographing apparatus itself is detected and azimuth information indicating a direction of the photo-detection plane of the CCD 14 is detected. On the basis of the focal position, a distance between the photo-detection plane of the CCD 14 and the subject, in which the subject image is acquired by the CCD 14, is derived and on the basis of its own position information, its own azimuth information and the distance to the subject, position information of the subject is specified.
