PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption and thereby expand the life of a power supply battery by suppressing useless driving of a speaker which is driven by a battery. SOLUTION: The speaker system is equipped with an amplifier 5 for driving a speaker, which operates on the power supplied from the power supply battery 3 and amplifies input audio signals, and a speaker 6 which is driven by the output of the amplifier 5 for driving a speaker. In the speaker system, the input audio signals are input into a band pass filter 4, and the audio signals having a frequency band other than ones reproducible by the speaker are eliminated from the input audio signals, and the audio signals confined to those having the frequency bands reproducible by the speaker 6 are input into the amplifier 5 for driving a speaker.
