COLOR IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE, SHADOW MASK, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING COLOR IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE USING SHADOW MASK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high aperture ratio of pixels in a full-color-compatible display device using a shadow mask of high strength. SOLUTION: In a pixel array portion, two vertical pixels form one pair, and the pixel aperture interval W2 between the pairs is greater than a pixel aperture interval W1 within each pair. A corresponding shadow mask 620A is provided with openings 622 corresponding to sub-pixels for two vertical pixels of a display panel portion and has spacing units 624 that serves as horizontal bridging between the openings 622 in the vertical direction. The spacing units 624 between the vertical openings 622 are disposed in the same vertical position throughout a line and arranged in one horizontal line. The presence of the spacing units 624 can provide the mask with high strength so that the strength of the mask can improve upward bending. A decrease in aperture ratio due to vapor deposition for formation of a luminescent layer can be controlled, and a high-definition panel with high strength and a high aperture ratio can be provided.
