PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head slider which is less likely to contact with a disk upon loading operation, and in which dust is less likely to enter from an air inflow side in a normal use state. SOLUTION: The head slider 8A has: a main top surface 21 which is configured to face a recording medium 3 and which forms part of an air inflow leading edge; and two step surfaces 26-1 and 26-2 which extend from the air inflow leading edge to downstream in a position lower than the main top surface 21 when the main top surface 21 is faced up. The step surfaces 26-1 and 26-2 are respectively provided at right and left sides with respect to an air flow. The part of the main top surface 21 extends between the two step surfaces, and the other part of the main top surface 21 extends at the rear side of the two step surfaces.
