PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pyrrole or its derivative alkylated atβ-position by easily and selectively alkylating theβ-position of pyrroles by chemical synthesis. SOLUTION: The method for producing a compound expressed by general formula (3) comprises the reaction of pyrrole or its derivative expressed by general formula (1) with a compound expressed by general formula (2) and a hydride donor (in the formulas, R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a trialkylsilyl group; and R<SP>2</SP>is an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group which may have substituents).
