PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of the whole apparatus and to achieve simplification of configuration while enough image formation efficiency is maintained in practical use by switching between a full-color image and a monochromatic image to meet the situation. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes: an electrostatic latent image support; a charging means; a write means 3; a developing means for developing an electrostatic latent image with two or more kinds of toner to form a visible image; a transfer means 9 for transferring the visible image to a record medium; and a fixing means 10 for fixing a transfer image transferred to the record medium, wherein the developing means is provided corresponding to three colors. the fixing means is provided only at one station, and at least one of two or more kinds of toner contains thermally denatured material, which makes an irreversible color change from transparent to black or from black to transparent above a predetermined temperature, whereby in full color image formation and in monochromatic image formation, an image is fixed by selecting a different temperature condition between high temperature side and low temperature side from the predetermined temperature.
