PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide for reliable PID feedback control in reliance on temperature measurements in a respiratory system without requiring measurements of flow rate.
SOLUTION: A heater system (16) is provided for a respiratory system (10) having a PID feedback control (100) in which the coefficients are adjusted, such as in a warm-up process, to correspond to an estimated flow rate of gas through a chamber (20) of heated water (27) based on the difference between heat input and heat output in relation to a temperature set point without the need to directly monitor flow rate or humidity level. A steady-state adjustment of the coefficients based on the behavior of the measured temperature in relation to the set point is also disclosed.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
