<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To serve an image compression circuit provided in an imaging apparatus for generation of compressed image data for record also as an evaluation value calculation circuit that generates a contrast evaluation value to be used as an index for finding an in-focus location for an autofocus process. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a shooting optical system 10, an image pickup part 11, an image compression part 13, and a focusing part 16. The image pickup part 11 has an image pickup device 110 that performs photoelectric conversion of a subject image formed by the shooting optical system 10, and performs A/D conversion of a photographed image obtained by the image pickup device 110 to generate digital photographed image data. The image compression part 13 performs an image compression process on the digital photographed image data to generate compressed image data for focusing. The focusing part 16 adjusts the imaging location of the subject image formed by the shooting optical system 10 on the basis of the data size of the compressed image data for focusing generated by the image compression part 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
