LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND METHOD OF DRIVING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of improving display quality and to provide a method of driving the liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel, and a plurality of light-emitting blocks which provide light to the liquid crystal panel and wherein a peak value of current flowing through each of the light-emitting elements included in each light emitting block is controlled according to operation modes. Preferably, the liquid crystal display further includes: a voltage provider providing a first reference voltage in a first operation mode, and a second reference voltage having a voltage level lower than that of the first reference voltage in a second operation mode; and backlight drivers supplied with the first reference voltage or the second reference voltage and controlling the peak value of current flowing through light-emitting elements so that the peak value is larger in the first operation mode than in the second operation mode.
