<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain continuity between temporally successive images during continuous shooting of a high-speed moving object, while obtaining proper exposures. <P>SOLUTION: A camera includes an imaging element 7 operative to capture an image of a subject; a diaphragm 19 having an aperture 17 of variable size operative to restrict luminous flux incident on an imaging plane of the imaging element 7; a total controller 21 operative to detect differences, by comparing two images photographed successively by the imaging element 7; and a lens unit control unit 25 operating to adjust the exposure time of the imaging element 7 for an image to be captured next, according to the differences detected by the total controller 21 and adjusting the size of the aperture 17 of the diaphragm 19 so as to obtain suitable exposure. When the total controller 21 makes adjustments, to increase defocusing of a background part of an image, the lens unit control unit 25 narrows down the aperture 17 of the diaphragm 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
