PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of effectively enhancing the partial wear resistance subsequent of the medium wear period of a land row of the pneumatic tire having a stepping-down rib, i.e., a partial wear sacrificing projecting bar for suppressing partial wear in a circumferential groove. SOLUTION: A circumferential groove 2 is provided in a tread surface 1, and a stepping-down rib 4 is provided in the circumferential groove. A sipe 5 cut in the tread width direction is formed on a sidewall of the stepping-down rib 4 separately from a rib top face 4a of the stepping-down rib 4. In the sipe 5, the dimension b in the height direction along the sidewall of the stepping-down rib 4 is larger than the opening width a in the tread circumferential direction.
