PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform positioning of vehicle body components with high accuracy, regardless of the kind of a vehicle, when temporarily mounting the vehicle body, and to reduce equipment investment by reducing equipment required for positioning or its storage space. SOLUTION: This positioning device for performing positioning a roof panel 7 and right and left side members 6 has a pair of first abutting parts 18 movable in the vehicle width direction and a pair of second abutting part 19 movable in the vehicle width direction. Both of the first abutting part 18 and the second abutting part 19 can be inserted into each of right and left groove parts 8 formed at a welded edge part. The first abutting parts 18 abut on inside surfaces 6a of the side members 6 by moving to the vehicle widthwise outside in the inserted states. The second abutting parts 19 abut on an outside surface 7a of the roof panel 7 by moving to the vehicle widthwise inside in the inserted states. Both of a separation distance W1 between the first abutting parts 18 and a separation distance between the second abutting parts 19 are variable and are controlled to be set to each of prescribed sizes according to the object type of vehicle.
