<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management system which enables a user to examine and investigate a failure in detail, the user constructing a system with modules which he/she buys and makes use thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturer manages modules to be manufactured and sold, for each module, with a production management device 100 by using production management data MMD. The user manages the modules of a system which he/she uses, for each module, with a usage management device 200 by using usage management data UMD. When a failure occurs in the user system, the usage management device 200 records failure record data IRD, and acquires, from the production management device 100, the production management data MMD on the module which is the cause of the failure, and then outputs the production management data MMD, the usage management data UMD and the failure record data IRD.
