PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content providing system and a content providing method for quickly acquiring content even when a user uses any content providing terminal. SOLUTION: The content providing system 100 is provided with a content providing terminal 160 for transmitting the content held by a self-device to a content acquisition terminal 170 which acquires the content; a content server 140 for storing the content; and a content transferring device 130 for transferring the content from the content server 140 to the content providing terminal 160. This content provision system 100 is provided with a user identification device 110 movable with the user; and a user recognition device 120 for detecting whether or not it is possible to communicate with the user identification device 110.
