High data rate interface apparatus and method

A method for validating that a client is in sync with a host and performing a dynamic change from a first interface type to a second interface type, the method comprising the steps of sending a reverse encapsulation packet by the host to the client; sending a response packet from the client to the host; confirming by the host that the response packet was properly received at the host; and instructing the client to handoff from using the first interface type to using the second interface type as well as a corresponding system.
