<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet 1, wherein respective Fresnel lens surfaces 1a in a planoconvex linear Fresnel lens shape are formed into recessed curved surfaces so that light passing through the respective Fresnel lens surfaces 1a can be spread to a certain extent, and to provide a backlight unit using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the planoconvex linear Fresnel lens type optical sheet 1, the respective Fresnel lens surfaces 1a divided like a planoconvex linear Fresnel lens are formed into recessed curved faces.
