PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a setting property of an operating feeling in a hydraulic shock absorber. SOLUTION: An annular oil chamber 17 is demarcated in the place between the inner periphery of an outer tube 11 and the outer periphery of an inner tube 12 and the annular oil chamber 17 is communicated with the operating oil chamber 21 via an oil hole 28 provided in the inner tube 12. The cross sectional area of the annular oil chamber 17 is to be formed larger than the cross sectional area of the piston support member 23, and a volume compensation flow path 64 flows oil inside the operating oil chamber 21 in the extension stroke in which the piston support member 23 checks out of the operating oil chamber 21 to the oil storage chamber 22. The vehicular hydraulic shock absorber 10 has a check valve 60 to block oil flows from the operating oil chamber 21 in the extension stroke to the oil storage chamber 22 and a flow channel adjustment means 65 adjusts the flow area of the volume compensation flow path 64.
