摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved surface mounting method for a printhead. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the ink-jet printhead for surface mounting comprises a step for providing a substrate 10 having a plurality of ink ejection elements and a plurality of electrical contacts 18 formed on a first surface. The contacts are connected to the ink ejection elements to allow the selective drive of the elements. A plurality of through-holes are formed at the substrate, and each through-hole extends from the opposite surface of the substrate completely through the thickness of the substrate to abut on the bottom face of each electrical contact 18 on the first surface. Each through-hole is almost completely filled with a conductive material 36 by electroplating. Finally, a further plurality of electrical contacts (solder mounds) 38 are formed on the second surface of the substrate, and each electrical contact contacts with the conductive material in each through-hole.
