PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CAD system and a component arrangement method, which can arrange components efficiently and easily when creating an assembly. SOLUTION: The CAD system 10 at least includes: a CPU 11; a RAM 12; a ROM 13; a component information storage section 14; and a coordinate information storage section 15. The component information storage section 14 relates the shape information of a component in coordinate space peculiar to the component to a component name and stores them. The coordinate information storage section 15 relates the name (coordinate name) of the coordinate space peculiar to the component to the relative position information of the coordinate space for assembly and local coordinate space peculiar to the component for storage. The CPU 11 arranges the component in global coordinate space, based on the component shape information stored in the component information storage section 14 in association with the component name and the relative position information stored in the coordinate information storage section 15 in association with the coordinate name by searching the component information storage section 14 and the coordinate information storage section 15 and hence extracting the component name and the coordinate name in a corresponding relationship under naming rules.
