PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which allows easy installation of a monitoring instrument into a rock bed having a weak layer portion while not affecting monitoring. SOLUTION: When a monitoring instrument 1 configured to have various types of sensors attached to a long support tube body 2 is installed inside a hole 3 formed in a rock bed, after formation of the hole, a casing tube 7 is inserted into the hole. After the monitoring instrument is inserted into the inside of the casing tube, the casing tube is removed from the hole to leave the monitoring instrument inside the hole, and a grout material is loaded in essential spots and solidified. The support tube body includes an expandable-shrinkable packer 4a at least at a tip portion, and the packer is allowed to expand before the removal of the casing tube to hold the monitoring instrument to a hole wall. The monitoring instrument is held at a center portion inside the casing tube and a spacer 8 for guiding relative movement of the casing tube and the monitoring instrument is attached to the essential spots of the support tube body.
