PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detecting device capable of reducing an impulsive force which acts on an arm when a wave collides with a float, by straining ingenuity in the shape of the float or the structure of the arm. SOLUTION: The float 4 is formed into the shape of a spindle being on the same axis with a float holding part 5b. Consequently, when the wave W collides with the float 4, a fuel 10 flows along the surface of the float 4 smoothly, and the impulsive force F to be applied by the wave W to the float 4 is sharply reduced as compared with a conventional liquid level detecting device. Accordingly, it is possible to suppress faults such as deformation of the arm 5, or damages of a joining part of a housing holding part 5a to a magnet holder 2 and a joining part of the magnet holder 2 to a housing 3 caused by the impulsive force generated when the wave W by sway of the fuel 10 collides with the float 4.
