PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device, capable of preventing engine rotation from becoming unstable during idle run by electric load fluctuation. SOLUTION: In the engine control device, power generation quantity of a vehicle power generator is calculated based on the current duty ratio of energization to a field magnet winding of the vehicle power generator and engine speed, and engine output is adjusted in accordance with the electric load quantity. It is provided with a filter means to filter-process the duty ratio, a power generation state determination means to determine whether the power generation state of the power generator is in a transitive power generation state or in a stationary power generation state, and a filter gain adjusting means to adjust the filter gain to be used for the filter means based on the result of determination by the power generation state determination means.
