PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray CT apparatus capable of acquiring a high-quality cephalic computed tomography regardless of the slicing position, and a method for the image correction for the X-ray CT apparatus. SOLUTION: Correction data are created from bone projection data acquired by virtually projecting a bone image in the tomographic image of the cephalic region captured by the X-ray CT apparatus, and the tomographic image is corrected by using a correction image reconstructed by means of the back projection of the correction data. In correcting the tomographic image, a gain for creating the correction data from the bone projection data is determined based on the bone thickness in the bone image in the tomographic image. The gain is large when the bone thickness is small, and the gain is small when the bone thickness is large. The gain is modified according to the ratio of the area of the bone image of the internal region of the skull to the area of the whole bone image in the tomographic image.
