PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new drug effective for preventing or ameliorating the condition of abnormal accumulation of iron in macrophage.

SOLUTION: The agent for enhancing the expression of an iron metabolism-related gene of macrophage comprises a compound having an Nrf2 activation action as an active ingredient. An agent for ameliorating anemia and functional iron deficiency comprises the above expression enhancing agent as an active ingredient.
