<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a cellulose ester film to be used for a polarizing plate, which is excellent in hot moisture durability, high in strength, minimized in foreign matter defect, and excellent in view angle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing a cellulose ester film comprises assigning, to a mixed fatty acid cellulose ester film obtained by casting a dope of a mixed fatty acid cellulose ester having acetyl group and propionyl group or butyryl group over a casting support to form a film followed by drawing, an in-plane retardation value (R0 value) defined by the expression (1): R0 value=(n<SB>x</SB>-n<SB>y</SB>)×d, in the range of 31-120 nm and a thickness-directional retardation value (Rt value) defined by the expression (2): Rt value=((n<SB>x</SB>+n<SB>y</SB>)/2-n<SB>z</SB>)×d, in the range of 60-300 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
