PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system with energy saving aimed at, and keeping on illuminating a whole indoor space with a given luminance, even if there are factors affecting luminance in the vicinity of the wall. SOLUTION: The illumination system is provided with lighting fixtures 3A, 3B, 3C arranged in turn from a window 21 side to a wall 22 side, a first light detecting part 4 detecting a volume of outside light incident indoors 2, and a second light detecting part 5 detecting a volume of reflected light from the wall 22. The lighting fixture 3A of the first row is equipped with a control part 10A for controlling light of the lighting fixture based on a detection result of the first light detecting part 4, and the lighting fixture 3B of the N-th row is equipped with a control part 10B for controlling light of the lighting fixture based on a detection result of the second light detecting part 5. The control parts 10A, 10B refer to a first table 16 and a second table 17, respectively, and, after grabbing a luminance level by the outside light or illumination light, obtains a light-control ratio in reference to a correlation table 18, and carries out light control of the lighting fixtures 3A, 3B, 3C by the above light-control ratio.
