PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even a host machine comprising no LAN port (various built-in device and PC) to access a file server connected to a LAN. SOLUTION: A network device 1 is connected to a host machine 2 and a file server 3 having a common directory. It also comprises an RS-232 port 4 for connection to the host machine, a LAN port 6 for connection to the file server, and a control part 5 which analyses a command inputted through the RS-232 port and controls file access to the file server connected to the LAN port based on the command. The command at least includes an access start command to the common directory, a file reading command, and a file writing command.
