PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an added time of an operating time and a standstill time of an air compressor so as to be a fixed level, and to reduce power consumption. SOLUTION: The air compressor 1 is provided with a compressor body 3 driven by an electric motor 2. A tank 5 is connected with the discharge side of the compressor body 3, and a pressure sensor 8 is mounted to the tank 5. When the operating air compressor 1 is stopped, a control circuit 10 predicts the standstill time Tb until pressure P in the tank 5 decreases to a pressure lower limit value Pmin and restarts the air compressor 1. The control circuit 10 adds the operating time Ta up to the present and the predicted standstill time Tb, and stops the compressor body 3 when the added time is longer than a predesignated time threshold T0.
