PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device, a driving method for the electro-optical device, and electronic equipment for reducing electric power consumption. SOLUTION: This electro-optical device includes a precharge circuit 210 capable of outputting the electric potential VPL being equivalent to off-electric potential of liquid crystal and the electric potential VPH being equivalent to on-electric potential of liquid crystal as precharge electric potential Pre-CHG. In partial display mode, ON-precharging is performed in the precharge circuit 210 during a period of precharging in a display region, and picture image signals corresponding to gradation are supplied for picture element 110 from a data line driving circuit 190. On the other hand, supply of picture image signals from the data line driving circuit 190 is stopped, and precharge electric potential Pre-CHG being equivalent to the off-electric potential of liquid crystal is supplied to the picture element 110 from the precharge circuit 210 during one period of horizontal scanning in a non-display region.
