<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VOC gas treatment method adapted to be stably and economically operated by minimizing the amount of nutrients discharged together with overflow drainage. <P>SOLUTION: Solid matter (e.g., surplus sludge) containing reservoir water c having fallen into a spray water reservoir tank 13 is led to a filtration apparatus 5 where it is subjected to solid/liquid separation, the separated filtrate water e is returned to the spray water reservoir tank 13, while the separated solid matter d is stored in a digestion tank 6 where part of organic matter liquefied by digestion.
