<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method producing d,l-menthol, using a reprocessable catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: In this continuous production method of d,l-menthol, catalytic hydrogenation using hydrogen of a compound which has a p-menthane carbon skeleton containing at least a double bond and trisubstituted by oxygen and/or dislocation of a menthol stereoisomer in the presence of hydrogen are carried out under pressure of 25-350 bar and at a temperature of 150-230°C, using a fixed bed catalyst manufactured without any support from a molding which is prepared by press working and reducing of powders of a cobalt (hydr)oxide, a manganese (hydr)oxide, an alkaline earth metal (hydr)oxide, and a (hydr)oxide of an arbitrary element of group V and/or subgroup VI of the periodic table. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
