<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing composition exhibiting very excellent compatibility between glass fiber to be used for manufacturing fiber-reinforced plastics and a polymer matrix. <P>SOLUTION: The sizing composition is used on glass fibers which are used to reinforce plastic resins used in the formation of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP). The sizing composition comprises a copolymer formed from at least one functional monomer that is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy functional group or the mixture of the hydroxy, phenyl and/or alkoxylated functional groups. The glass fibers sized with the sizing composition have excellent compatibility with the resins used in forming FRPs, as seen by a low level of white glass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
