PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystalline composition exhibiting a high Δn and capable of securing light resistance in the wavelength band of a blue laser.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystalline composition contains 5 to 30 mass% one or more compounds represented by formula (1A) and 70 to 95 mass% one or more compounds represented by formula (2). R1, R2 and R3 each denotes a 1-12C alkyl group and a part of hydrogen atoms may be replaced with fluorine atoms.
