<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dynamically change a constitution of a printer during the processing of a print job while guaranteeing accuracy in counting printed pages. <P>SOLUTION: This system and the method are provided for maintaining page face counts that reflect the number of pages with printed image data. When an analysis of rasterized bitmap data indicates that the reverse face of a page contains no data when the printer is performed in a duplex mode, the constitution of the printer may be set to be single-sided so that the duplex unit on the printer can be bypassed. When both faces contain image data, the printer is set to the duplex mode. In particular, when printing in the duplex mode, when a reverse page face is blank and does not contain image data, the blank page face is not included in the page face count. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
