PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polymer compound having Si-Si bonds in a main chain which is useful as a material for a photoresist material, a pre-ceramic material or a conductive material in an industrially advantageous and efficient manner. SOLUTION: The polymer compound having Si-Si bonds in a main chain is obtained by using a silicon compound having two or more Si-H groups in a molecule as a starting material and dehydrogenating the Si-H groups.
