PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the attaching strength of a soft support body while preventing impairment of the outside appearance in a chair securing the high cushionability and fitting property by using the soft support body to be deformed to extend with the body pressure of a user in a backrest of the chair. SOLUTION: A large window hole 18 opened forward/backward is bored in the upper half part of a hard resin outer shell 13 which constitutes a strength member of the backrest 4, and therefore, the left and right sides of the window hole 18 are side frame parts 13a. A receiving groove 41 which is opened forward is bored in the side frame part 13a. Meanwhile, fitting parts 43, in which a number of stages of pocket parts 50 are formed, are provided on the left and right sides of an upper cover 15 made of elastomer, and reinforcing members 45 are fitted to the fitting parts 43 from outside on the left and right sides. The fitting part 43 and the reinforcing member 45 are fitted into the receiving groove 41, and both of them are fastened together to the side frame part 13a with screws 46.
