PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supercharger for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing decline in supercharging performance even when coking is generated in a diffuser part. SOLUTION: The supercharger 10 for the internal combustion engine 1 includes a compressor 11 which includes the diffuser part 16 provided around a compressor wheel 15 and communicated with an outlet 15a of the compressor wheel 15 and a scroll chamber 17 communicated with the diffuser part 16 and is provided on an intake passage 3 of the internal combustion engine 1. The compressor 11 includes a bypass passage 19 for guiding intake air discharged from the compressor wheel 15 to the scroll chamber 17 by bypassing the diffuser part 16 and with a valve 20 movable between an open position P1 guiding intake air to the bypass passage 19 and a close position P2 blocking introduction of the intake air to the bypass passage 19.
