<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more enhance effect on suppressing wrinkles occurring in an electrolyte membrane during the manufacture of a membrane-electrode assembly. <P>SOLUTION: When the membrane-electrode assembly 30 in which catalyst electrodes 32a, 32b are arranged on both sides of an electrolyte membrane 31 is manufactured, the electrolyte membrane 31 and the catalyst electrodes 32a, 32b are interposed between heat resistant sheets 41 having gaps between fibers, and then hot-pressed. When pressed, moisture produced from the electrolyte membrane 31 and the catalyst electrodes 32a, 32b is sucked up, residue of the moisture in the electrolyte membrane 1 can be reduced.
