PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device which achieves reduction in sound produced when a pressing member is brought into press-contact with a conveying roller by eliminating backlash of a release shaft. SOLUTION: When an upper cover 5 is closed, a link lever 34 and a release lever 70 are rocked to turn the release shaft 48 in a tape printing device 1. The notched surface of the release shaft 48 is put on the edge of a lower interference member. At such a time, the lower interference member collides with the notched surface. However, a swollen part provided in a gear cover 77 of the release lever 70 slides to one end of the release shaft 48. Thus, the release shaft 48 is energized in a shaft direction, so that the backlash in the shaft direction is eliminated.
